Missionary Baptist Church of San Antonio is a church of Jesus Christ commissioned to go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20). We associate directly with the churches of the Mission Valley Missionary Baptist Association, the Missionary Baptist Association of Texas, and the American Baptist Association. Our passion is to grow in Christ Jesus, mature as His disciples, and engage in missionary and church plant works throughout the world!

Are We Different than Other Baptist Churches?
Essentially, no. While there are certainly different Baptist conventions, associations, and independent churches, the majority of Baptists believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ; that salvation is by God's grace through faith in His Son Jesus, that baptism is by immersion for professing believers (in contrast to infant baptism), and that each church is autonomous and answers only to the scriptures and the Head of each church, Jesus Christ. Baptist churches like us, who choose to associate with the churches of the American Baptist Association, have two main distinctives.
- A church of Jesus Christ is always a local, visible assembly of professing believers. Whereas many evangelicals would use the term "church" in reference to all believers of all time (i.e universal church), we would reference all believers of all time as children of the family of God or members of the kingdom of God. We believe the first church begin during the ministry of Jesus, composed of many disciples, 12 of whom became apostles. From that first church came a lineage of true churches that continues to this day.
- While almost all Baptists and evangelicals practice the Lord's Supper, as we do also, we believe that the Lord's Supper scripturally should be kept in the confines of the local church membership. Guests are more than welcomed to attend a Lord's Supper service, but we ask that they prayerfully remain seated as the church membership partakes of the bread and cup of fellowship (1 Corinthians 10:14-17).
